A quick guide to #Brexit and beyond, after Britain votes to quit EU https://t.co/s1XkZRUmVg pic.twitter.com/cnIuToJkT0 — Bloomberg (@business) 24 juni 2016 Wij verzamelen meningen en commentaren over Brexit. Martin Currie, Michael Browne en Steve Frost van Legg Mason: "Meer bullish." “Despite much negativity around European equities, there can, in fact, be grounds for optimism and an economic recovery might eventually be helped by this referendum, as austerity disappears. Our qualitative ‘traffic light’ system, which allows us to take a strategic view on the economic outlook, shows that some of our indicators are moving away from a neutral stance to more bullish territory. Corporate costs are well managed, investor exposures are underweight and credit spreads are low./p> Stefan Kreuzkamp, CIO Deutsche Asset Management: "De euro blijft zwak." "In the coming months we expect capital outflows to put further pressure on the GBP versus USD. The EUR is also likely to remain weak. Risk-off trades may drive U.K. and other equity markets lower. Following the sharp initial devaluation, further GBP weakness is likely, but with periods of volatility prompted by positive/negative developments in “leave” negotiations. " Matthew Beesley, Head of Global Equities bij Henderson Global Investors: "Zal het VK samen blijven?" "There will be debate and uncertainty over what exactly will happen next: how quickly will the UK evoke Article 50? What does the UK economy look like outside of the EU? Will the United Kingdom stay United or will this trigger a break-up of the United Kingdom as we know it, with another Independence Vote for Scotland given the country's over-whelming vote to Remain? Could this give rise again to structural questions around the future of the European Union given the succour the outcome will give to other disgruntled factions across the continent." "We expect the UK divorce to be messy, drawn out and costly. It involves unpacking UK and EU laws, and striking trade deals with a spurned EU and the rest of the world. We expect potential losses in services exports and investment flows to overwhelm any benefits of lower payments to EU." David Zahn, Head of European Fixed Income Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager Franklin Templeton Fixed Income Group: "Er komt een vlucht naar kwaliteitsassets." "In general, I consider this a risk-negative result. That means I would expect what investors consider to be “risky” assets such as equities and corporate bonds to underperform and for there to be a flight to quality to those perceived as less risky, most notably Gilts and Bunds. I would expect to see some ramifications on the weaker economies in the eurozone and wider EU, with peripheral European bond spreads likely widening, and I would expect the euro to go down—although likely not as much as the pound—as people question the future of the EU project. For the UK, this is a seismic result. Its implications will undoubtedly be felt beyond UK borders, with immediate and perhaps long-lasting impacts on global trade and certainly on all asset markets." Toby Nangle, Head of Multi-Asset Allocation, EMEA bij Columbia Threadneedle Investments: "Het is vooral de onzekerheid." "Over recent days markets have moved to price in a high chance of a Remain outcome, so the result is one for which financial markets are clearly unprepared. At open we anticipate that fixed income markets will jump to price a UK recession and a Bank of England rate cut, although the scale of currency weakness means that inflation pass-through will be carefully watched as the MPC have indicated that they will not cut and may indeed hike if inflation expectations become unanchored. The outlook for European risk assets is clouded. We see a hit to UK growth in the short as well as medium-term, and this economic loss emanating from the UK will impact the nascent economic recovery seen across the continent. But valuations will be hit hardest by the profound uncertainty as to the prospects of political contagion rather than any immediate impact to company bottom lines. Rarely are risk events so well diarised. This has not helped markets price what looks this morning to be the ultimate outcome, but it has helped central bank prepare contingency plans and we anticipate that they will be there to provide copious liquidity if required." Valentijn van Nieuwenhuijzen, Head of Multi Asset at NN Investment Partners: "Het is een politieke crisis." "What we do know is that this is a political crisis, which will not automatically trigger a worldwide recession or a liquidity crisis in the financial system." Michael Metcalfe, Head of Global Macro Strategy bij State Street: "Zullen beleggers hun Britse beleggingen nu verkopen?" "Our first assessment is that this is a large shock but, ultimately, a local one. The UK economy will slow sharply. Our best estimate is that growth will slow from an annualised pace of 1.6% to around 0.6% in the second half of 2016, with a similar growth rate achieved in 2017. We can expect inflation to jump to 3% or 4% by the second half of 2017, as a direct result of the decline in sterling. That compares with a previous forecast of around 1.7%." UBS Asset Management: "Inflatiedruk en een recessie." "The BoE will likely be faced with a situation where inflation pressures are rising but the economy is entering into recession. A cut in rates is less likely as a response, but a resumption of quantitative easing cannot be ruled out. A drop in the exchange rate would be viewed as a form of monetary easing, which would limit the need for an immediate policy reaction. There would be no attempt to 'defend' the currency. Further easing looks more likely in Q4 than Q3, unless there is a disruptive adjustment in financial markets." "In the very short term, nothing will happen on the economic side. But expectations will change dramatically and this is this phenomena that will weigh on financial markets. Central banks will not be neutral and they will have to intervene in order to avoid a spillover effect of the British shock. The global growth momentum is currently too weak to allow the diffusion of such a shock. As during the 2008/2009 crisis, swap agreements between central banks will be reactivate to provide liquidity to the global financial market." Brexit in a pic.
